Factory rack or aftermarket cover

I'm checking out a 2023 Ridgeline RTL and the dealer has one with a roof rack and bed cover installed, while the other is identical but missing both. Price difference is making me rethink the rack since I don't really need it. Should I pass on the factory setup and just buy a cover down the road?

Unless you're really set on that factory look, I'd skip it and grab a cover later. It's honestly way cheaper to wait and there are LOTS of aftermarket options. Roof rack's just dead weight if it's not in use to be honest.

I was on the fence about it but you're right. The thought of that roof rack being dead weight pretty much seals the deal for me. Are there any particular aftermarket bed cover brands you have had good luck with?

If you don't need the roof rack now, skip it and save money. You can always add a bed cover later, it's cheaper and more practical than paying extra for a factory rack you won't use

Popular options for the Ridgeline are the Truxedo Lo Pro soft roll-up, BAKFlip MX4 hard folding, Peragon retractable, and the EZ Hard trifold. Each has its perks, some are easier to access, some more durable and some more budget-friendly.. so its worth picking one that fits how you'll actually use the bed

I'm just revisiting this thread and wanted to thank everyone for the input. I did end up buying the Ridgeline without the factory rack and bed cover a couple of months ago. A few of you reached the same conclusion that passing on the dealer package was the more practical and economical choice. @kingragnar lists specific brands like BAKFlip and Truxedo, which is exactly the kind of information I was looking for when I last posted. For those with a hard folding cover, how much bed space do you lose by the cab when it's open? I hope to research these options and place an order before the rainy season really kicks in here.
