Water getting in trunk

I noticed a weird smell creeping in every time I opened the tailgate on my 2019 Honda Ridgeline, but I chalked it up to wet gear from a recent fishing trip, fast forward a few days, I go to pull out some tools from the in bed trunk and boom, I'm greeted with standing water. Not just damp, I'm talking a solid puddle, first I thought maybe the drain plug wasn't sealed properly, but after checking it twice and making sure the lid was closed tight, the mystery stayed, the truck hasn't been in any floods or anything extreme, just normal rain and a few washes
who has ideas, i dont know how water keeps getting it, the weatherstrip or something?

Im thinking water's sneaking into your Ridgeline's in-bed trunk through a bad weatherstrip or seal. Even if the drain plug and lid seem fine , worn or cracked seals can let water in after rain or washes. Check the weatherstrip for damage and replace it if needed to keep that water out.

Either that or the drain is clogged, but here's the thing. It's a 6 year old vehicle. How is it even possible for the weather stripping to become so damaged that the trunk is identifying as an aquarium?
